You couldn’t ask for a more picture perfect wedding. Every detail of this wedding was attended to, from the perfectly laid out jewellery, to flowers, to the custom monograms all captured in stunning photos. Chad + Nikki’s big day was inspired by a vintage elegance theme that was carried through out the entire day. The beautiful colours of pink, pearl, gold and ivory really made the vintage theme come to life and sparkle just the perfect amount. HOW CHAD AND I MET:
We have known each other for 10 years. We met through friends & my cousin (which was Chad’s bff). We dated out of high school and college on and off for a few months.
April 15th, 2011. It was a Friday night, Chad was working late I was at home not feeling well lounging around in my pink house coat, no make up feeling horrible. He came home stayed in the front entrance foyer and told me to “come here”, I asked him “why? what do you want”? lol he just “just come here” when I turned the corner from the kitchen he was down on one knee holding a ring box with a sparkly ring he asked me if I would marry him, I started crying and said are you serious? Then said yes. They say a proposal is when you least expect it….and it was!! Lol.
HOW WAS THE WEDDING PLANNING:
It was amazing, fun, exciting and stressful. It was such a fun time, to go through all the planning with my mom and sister and occasionally Chad and my dad. I’m very organized, I had spreadsheets, check lists and lists. Since we were having such a big wedding (250) people we had a budget so our photographer my sister found on kijiji (his full time job is a fire fighter but does photographer on the side) so his prices were a lot cheaper, same with the cupcake lady (on kijiji) she works from home so her prices were very reasonable compared to bakeries, the limo and DJ we went with were from the same company so they gave us a deal since we booked both services through them. Our invites were made by a small design company (my sister knows the owner) so with a small company I was able to get exactly what I wanted for a reasonable price and well as the programs (kijiji add) was a photographer/designer starting out so her prices were lower than others but the same quality of work. I found my perfect wedding dress from Bridal Debut in Sherwood Park, the staff there are amazing. I was able to find a plain Jane inexpensive dress and customize it to make it my own!!!
HOW DID YOU CHOOSE WEDDING THEME/STYLE/COLOURS:
I love pink and the vintage/antique look (our house is decorated vintage), so I knew what I wanted from the beginning, “vintage elegance” the colors were pearl/antique pink, gold and ivory. These colors have a vintage feel and are very stunning together. The gold is very rich and bold looking and the pink and ivory are soft and elegant. I also did the color grey as an extra accent, the tuxes and golf tee favours were grey. They grey tuxes complimented the pink bridesmaid dress wonderfully, black tuxes were too harsh and very standard.
