Christmas is my absolute FAVOURITE time of year! I am that person that puts up their holiday decorations the beginning of november so that I can enjoy it as long as possible. So when I was given the opportunity to be featured on the cover of Edmonton Woman Magazine and also provide an article on Christmas decorating ideas, I jumped at the chance!! Not only do I love the holiday season, have a huge passion for decor, I also love to support local Edmonton businesses and this gave me the chance to incorporate all three.
So now I have been given this opportunity to create something amazing but what should I do? Since I keep my decorations up for 2 months I like to make them Holiday themed, meaning I don’t overly focus on santa or anything too Christmas… Instead I use colours and elements that invoke the holiday spirit, this allows my decorations to have a little more longevity. I planned to use that idea in my styling for this holiday table.
Who doesn’t love desserts? Especially these DELICIOUS 3 tiered cookies designed by Style Cakes! I have been slightly obsessed with these 3 tier cookies since I first saw them, so when I had this photo shoot to create, I had to incorporate them of course! But how? and how to incorporate them so that they are featured on the table? Something innovative… I was thinking of a pedestal of some sort and I just happened to come across these beautiful wine red wine glasses. Turned upside down and tied with a ribbon they were the perfect pedestal!
Style Cakes also went above and beyond by supplying us with a whole dessert table to add to the photo shoot! It is really amazing how people will gravitate to a dessert table and if it is one as beautiful as this they will be ready for when they are allowed their first bite! Gorgeous tiered cookies, mini red velvet cupcakes, chocolate covered apples and a custom cake! Did you notice the beautiful deer on the cake? or the berries and twigs placed on the cookies and cake? Those are edible!!! Can you believe that she spent so much time making those twigs look exactly like real twigs!
LOVE this photo!! There is so much to see and appreciate. The stunning flowers provided by Laurel’s On Whyte, the signature drinks, the delicious desserts, candles, linens and the beautiful Giverny room at the Union Bank Inn. So much to take in all in one photo!
Now lets talk flowers!! My favourite! I asked Laurel’s On Whyte to fill up the table with beautiful floral arrangements that stretched the length of the table and was red. They are extremely talented so I let them have some fun creating what they thought would work because I knew they would come up with something wonderful. Which of course they did and was better than my expectations! Laurel’s On Whyte used red paris roses, antique hydrangea, ilex berries, aranda five friendship orchids and smoke bush.
Then came my photo shoot! These are my favourite photos but I must say it was so AWKWARD taking these photos!! Maybe a few more episodes of Top Model might have helped lol… The photos I loved but taking them no thanks! I’ll stick with creating the tables! However I must say my makeup look fabulous thanks to MakeupandMeg!
With the photo shoot complete it was time to celebrate!! Yes I did make our cocktails for the photo shoot real 🙂 How else are you expected to celebrate such a fabulous and long day!! Thank you so much to everyone who worked on the shoot!
