Why create a wedding timeline? I know you are already busy with so many wedding tasks so creating a wedding timeline is probably on the bottom of your list. BUT think of it this way. When you create a wedding timeline you know how your day is going to look. So when your photographer asks you when things are going to happen you can answer her.
“Well the ceremony is going to happen at 2:00 and then the reception is going to happen 6:00 so we have from 2:30-6:00 to get our photos in”
That was a little more basic than the wedding timeline I am talking about here, but you get the point. The wedding timeline we are talking about here will have the arrival of all the vendors, it will let the vendors know the days timeline, the venues know when guests will be arriving, how long each vendor is expected to attend and is such a helpful thing for the emcee and then the DJ later in the evening.

Let’s start with the basics… When is the ceremony and when is the reception?
Please think about how much time you need for photographer in the middle. If you do not want your photos done before the wedding then you have to save at least 2 hours in between the ceremony finishing and your arrival at the reception site. I would even go for 3 hours if you need to include travel time.
Next you are going to reach out to each of your vendors and find out when they will be arriving and then update your timeline as they reply.
Talk with your emcee about the schedule for the evening and everyone who will be speaking. Generally the order goes like this
- Welcome Speech
- Best Man Speech
- Maid Of Honour Speech
- Groom’s Parents Speech
- Bride’s Parents Speech
- Bride & Groom Speech
One you fill in all the rows with the timeline and delete any that do not apply you can sort the timeline, which is shows you how to in the printable and you have a timeline ready to go.
